Balloons in Flight set

6x6" and 3 4x6" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($124 SOLD)
I've been wanting to paint some balloons for a few months but haven't gotten around to it until now.  I have several of these little 4x6" canvases that now seem a little small for single paintings.  I decided to try and group them together somehow and the idea of the balloons seemed like a great subject to paint on them.

Flowers on Yellow - Commissioned piece

8x8" set of 3 Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas (SOLD)
This was a commissioned piece that I just finished and will deliver later today.  I think they turned out really well.  It was fun to get a commission and see it through to the end.

Purple Flower Buds

18x24" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($342)
I love the way this one turned out.  The picture isn't great so hopefully I can get another one taken soon and replace it.

Multi Colored Rocks on Hill

12x12" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($154)
Yet another painting of rocks on a hill.  I'm thinking I'm done with this series.  I just don't want to do any more so that tells me to stop.

Landscape

16x20" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($230)
This painting is actually a copy of one I did several years ago but don't have a photograph of.  The first one was really loose and done in a watercolor type style with thinned down oils.  I liked it so much I thought I would do one on canvas. This one turned out much different though.  Overall I still like it but I like the spontaneity of the first one best.

Calla Lily Diptych

6x6" and 6x8" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($74 - SOLD)
I painted another calla lily but really wanted to put it on two canvases like one of my favorite artists, Laura Gun did with her Calla Lily panting.

Featured

I was just featured on a cool blog, Choking on Static Design. It is nice to be noticed. Every little snippet of notice could be a potential sale so I'm excited.

Red Spheres

6x8" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($52 - Purchase on Etsy.com)
There are aspects of this painting that I love but on a whole I'm just not sure of it yet.  I'll leave it as is for a while and might readdress it at a later date.

In a slump

Lately I've been in a bit of a slump. I have two completed paintings that I did last week that I really don't like. I was trying out some different techniques and designs but they didn't work. I think one of them didn't work because it wasn't really my "style". I was venturing out a bit but didn't feel very inspired while I was starting it and it showed. I ended up gessoing over one of the paintings and will probably do the same with the second one. I also started another larger painting a couple of days ago and it is mostly finished but I again don't love it. It has potential but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I don't like these times when my good creativity is turned off. I hope in the next few days I'll be inspired again and do some paintings I'm proud to put my name on. Until then I'll struggle through.

Baby Turtle in Cattails

8x10" Acrylic on watercolor paper (unmatted prints available $12 - Purchase on Etsy.com)
I started working on this one months ago, though it seems like last year. I reworked the background several times before I was happy with it. Then I put it aside for a while, I think I was scared of finishing it because I wasn't sure it would turn out quite right. When I finally picked it up again a couple of weeks ago I was able to finish it fairly quickly. Just goes to show me that sometimes if I'm having a problem with a painting I might need to put it aside for a while and come back to it later.
