I've been inspired lately by a song I keep listening to by Elephant Revival, "Ring Around the Moon". I confess, I haven't really listened to what the song is talking about but I just love the imagery that comes to mind when I'm listening to it.

Dark Orange Flowers
Dark Orange Flower I
6x6" Acrylic on watercolor paper ($46 with 3" white mat - SOLD)
I did these last month for a gift but didn't end up giving them away. They are very similar to these Orange Flowers but in acrylic and much smaller. The colors are a bit deeper too.

New Signature, again

Several Small Paintings
I've been painting like crazy lately trying to get ready for an art fair. Most of the paintings are small so I can scan them in. There are a few that are larger and will have to wait to be posted until I can get out and get them photographed.

Poppies on Purple4x6" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($28 - SOLD)
I wanted to do one more poppy painting. I think I'm done with them for a while. I'm kind of tired of the same old thing.
Yellow Flower
8x8" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($74 - SOLD
I love how this flower turned out. I think the yellow on the green is striking. The green is a little lighter than pictured.
Red Flower on Black
8x8" Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas ($74 - Purchase on Etsy.com)
I haven't painted with black for years (other than the black outlines in most of my paintings). It was a color that suited my darker mood years ago but I haven't even thought about using it for a main color for some time. I had a pretty dark day the other day and did a black, red and white drippy painting that was too big for my scanner so I'll have to include it later. I decided I wanted to carry on the color scheme and try a flower. I really like the way it turned out.

Grungy Flowers
I was trying to do some pretty little flowers but I didn't like most of my color choices, a lot of things weren't working that day, including my creativity. So, instead of forcing myself to continue on while hating what I was doing I "trashed" the paintings. Some of them turned out pretty well, others I don't like as much.

More loosely drawn flowers than the ones above. They look a lot different to me.

Swallows
These were painted after Swallow with Swirly Flowers but I am just now getting them up. The good thing about painting small and on paper is that I can scan paintings instead of having to photograph them. I don't have the best scanner though, so some of the images are off, even after correcting them the best I could in Photoshop.
